
OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY & HEALTH ADMINISTRATION TRAINING
With the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, Congress created the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to ensure safe and healthful working conditions for workers by setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach, education and assistance.
OSHA 510 - Standards for Construction Industry
This course covers the OSHA standards for the construction industry found in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1926 along with other relevant policies, procedures, and safety and health principles for the construction industry. Special emphasis is placed on those areas that are the most hazardous and most frequently cited by OSHA. This course is provided by the Mid-South OTI Education Center. Minimum Contact Hours: 26 hours

OSHA 500 - Trainer Course for the Construction Industry
This trainer course is designed for personnel interested in teaching the OSHA 10- or 30-Hour Construction Outreach courses. Special emphasis is placed on required topics in the OSHA Outreach Program. Various instructional approaches and the effective use of visual aids and handouts will also be covered. Course participants will work in groups or independently to practice their presentation of selected topics.
A written examination is given at the conclusion of the course. Successful completion of the course and the final examination allows the participant to be recognized as an OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer for the Construction Industry.
This course is provided by the Mid-South OTI Education Center. Minimum Contact Hours: 26 hours
Construction industry outreach trainers must take OSHA 502 every four years to maintain their status as an outreach trainer.
OSHA 30-hr Construction - Instructor Led
Employers who have trained their workers with the OSHA Outreach Program for Construction have seen reductions of up to 66% in lost-time injuries. This 30-hour construction safety course is the online version of that successful program and is intended to provide instruction on a variety of general construction safety and health standards. As an OSHA 30-hour course, you are expected to spend a minimum of 30 hours in the course
Course topics include: Introduction to OSHA, Managing Safety and Health, Struck and Caught Hazards, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Lead and Crystalline Silica, Asbestos, Hazard Communication, Electrical Safety, Hand and Power Tools, Fall Protection, Ladder Safety, Excavation Safety, Scaffold Safety, Materials Handling, Crane Safety, Heavy Equipment, Forklift Safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Materials Handling, Permit-Required Confined Space Entry, Fire Safety, Welding and Cutting, Concrete and Masonry, Steel Erection, and Ergonomics.
OSHA recommends Outreach Training Program courses as an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers. Workers must receive additional training, when required by OSHA standards, on the specific hazards of their job.
OSHA 511 - Standards for General Industry
This course covers the OSHA standards for general industry found in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910 along with other relevant policies, procedures, and safety and health principles for general industry. Special emphasis is placed on those areas that are the most hazardous and most frequently cited by OSHA. This course is provided by the Mid-South OTI Education Center. Minimum Contact Hours: 26 hours

OSHA 501 - Trainer Course for General Industry
This trainer course is designed for personnel interested in teaching the OSHA 10- or 30-Hour General Industry Outreach courses. Special emphasis is placed on required topics in the OSHA Outreach Program. Various instructional approaches and the effective use of visual aids and handouts will also be covered. Course participants will work in groups or independently to practice their presentation of selected topics. (Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop to work on presentation materials.) A written examination is given at the conclusion of the course. Successful completion of the course and the final examination allows the participant to be recognized as an OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer for General Industry.

General industry outreach trainers must take OSHA 503 every four years to maintain their status as an outreach trainer.
OSHA 30-hr General Industry - Instructor Led
The 30-hour General Industry Outreach Training Program is intended to provide a variety of training to people with some safety responsibility. Workers must receive additional training on hazards specific to their job. Training emphasizes hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards. Topics covered include:
